Manga: Otomen

Otomen
by Aya Kanno
Status: Ongoing
Others: Drama (da what? I just knew that after looking it up)
Asuka is a guy who has likings for girly things like shoujo manga, baking, and sewing. However, his mother forbids him being so and wants him to grow up manly. He starts learning kendo and karate and grows up to be stoic guy. But can he fight the urge of falling in love and hiding his real identity?
Otomen
>a man who has feminine hobbies and skills and a feminine way of thinking.

>a girlish guy.
                  -from urban dictionary

You know, I actually admire guys who sew, cook, or like girly things. It just makes them that more attractive. Well, maybe it's just me.

But Asuka is literally one of those guys. And those guys that love girly things, cook, sew, and seem like a girl. They are called Otomen. During his nicknacks, he falls in love with Ryo. Now that was a bit sudden but it was still sweet, because it's not rushed and Asuka is super shy and blushes a lot. Hugzable person? Yup.

He faces a lot because most of the people he faces don't like girly men (Otomen) and he fights the fact that it's something he loves so it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. He meets so many other people who have to give up what they love because their parents or some tragic incident made them give it up. And so, society just doesn't like accepting differences do they?

Otomen really are the best men. > /////// <

  1. This has absolutely NOTHING to do with this review, but I was just looking at your profile and saw that you liked Studio Ghibli films, so I had to comment- they're some of my absolute favourites, I'm practically in love with all of Hayao Miyzaki's work, and am excited to find another blogger+reviewer who likes Ghibli, too! What work of theirs are you fond of?

    1. You like Studio Ghibli films tooooo!!!!!!!!!!! High five! I really like Howl's Moving Castle (I think my recent commenters are sick of my fangirling on that film), Totoro, Spirited Away! Of course i need to add that, and I really want to watch Princess Monokee (<--totally spelled wrong). So happy i met someone else who loves their movie productions! C:

  4. Aww I can't believe that you review this manga! I LOVE Otomen. <3 I fangirl every time Asuka acts cool and stoic, but omg his real self is just too cute! I really want to eat his cooking, it's so delicious! <3 I sure won't mind boys who can cook and make me cute things. ;)

Anyway, GHIBLI! I love Howl's Moving Castle, so romantic right? Spirited Away is very interesting as well! Have you watched Kiki's Delivery Service? That movie made me want desperately to become a witch haha! x)

PS: Do you have twitter, Delaney? We really should talk more just so I won't clutter your blog! ;)

    1. You've read this!!! Yes! I love his real self so much better! He's too cute to be true! And his cooking! Yes. Give me some. Haha, I wouldn't mind either! (considering I can't even properly make rice correctly TT ^ TT )

YA! Ghibli FTW! Howl's Moving Castle is my favorite. Tops. 'Nough said. And Spirited Away is a running up though No-face creeps me...just a bit. XD I haven't watched Kiki's Delivery Service! Want to now that you have mentioned it, though!

Oh, and I do not have a twitter. Somehow I just don't go with social medias (that is, except for bloggin! ;D). Oh I don't mind your comments of random things, it doesn't clutter up my blog at all! ^^

  6. Ohmygoodness, I totally love you for reviewing manga! I have so many that I read and love but they're so hard to review without giving away spoilers. Novels are easier, hehe. I'll definitely look for this one! I'm a manga-addict!

P.S Thanks for following Pages! TOTORO IS MY FAVOURITE! It's literally the reason why I am who I am today. My mum told me she grew up in a farm like Satsuki's and I'm very jealous of that fact, haha :) I love your blog design too! It's so cute and colourful and anime-ish :D I'm a new follower!
